Welcome to Sports Massage by James. My mission is to support individuals, whether athletes striving for improved performance, or non-athletes seeking better mobility and relief from muscle tension.
With a personalised approach to sports massage treatments, my aim is to enhance your overall well-being, promote recovery, reduce muscle tension, and optimise movement.
About James
Over the past 25 years I have worked as a lecturer in Sports Science and Personal Training qualifications. The subjects that I teach include Anatomy, Nutrition for Sports Performance, Specialised Fitness Training and (of course) Sports Massage. Teaching has been a fulfilling journey for me, particularly when delving into the intricacies of the human body and how sports and exercise performance can be improved through effective training and positive supporting habits.
In addition, I also coach triathletes in which I develop training programmes to enhance their performance and help them to achieve their goals, whether they be competitive, or simply to enjoy the sport, improve fitness, and reach personal targets.
Beyond my academic and coaching roles, I am a dedicated competitive triathlete and runner. Having faced my fair share of injuries and setbacks over the years, I empathise with the frustrations that can arise and the impact they have on both progression and race preparation. This personal experience alongside my academic background fuels my commitment to providing effective sports massage that aids in recovery, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and the support it can provide to achieving peak performance.
My qualifications include a degree in Sport and Exercise Science, a Certificate in Personal Training, Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications in Sports Massage Therapy, and a Certificate in Acupuncture and Dry Needling.
